4 Jawans Killed in Chattisgarh Encounter
At least four jawans were killed and 8 others were grievously injured today in a fearsome encounter between Maoists and police at Erapnar forest in Narayanpur district, Chattisgargh.
It is said the encounter lasted for some time but the Moaists attacked them from very close quarters. The injured have been airlifted and sent to Raipur as well as Jagdalpur hospitals for treatment.
Talking about the encounter Narayanpur ACP Jitendar Shukla said based on a tip off that Maoists were roaming the forest, a special combing party was put into operation. But the Maoists attacked their battalion from very close and there was very less time for the police to react. This resulted in death of four jawans, he mentioned.
