3 Pilgrims Among 4 From TN Killed As Vans Collide In AP

Tirupati (Andhra Pradesh): Three pilgrims heading to the nearby famous Lord Venkateswara temple were among four persons killed when their van and another vehicle collided near here today, police said.

The victims, hailing from Salem district of Tamil Nadu, were on their way to the hill shrine in Tirumala when their van and a sea-food laden van collided at Sankampalle, 40 km from here, in the wee hours, they said.

Driver of the pilgrim's van was the other deceased.

Three other pilgrims, injured in the mishap, were initially admitted to a government hospital in Chittoor, 70 km from here, before being shifted to CMC Hospital in Vellore in neighbouring Tamil Nadu.

The driver of the cargo van had been arrested. PTI
