3 Hyderabad Women Facing Sexual Exploitation In Saudi Seek Govt. Help To Come Back

Hyderabad: Three city-based women on Monday appealed the Telangana government through civil liberties activists to rescue them as they are being tortured by their employers in Saudi Arabia.

A complaint has been lodged by the activists with the DGP and the Hyderabad police commissioner and also a letter has been sent to Telangana Secretariat

The victims have sent their videos and messages through WhatsApp to Jaya Vindhyala, General Secretary of Peoples Union for Civil Liberties. The women narrated their ordeal about the physical torture and sexual exploitation meted out at the hands of their employers.

A complaint has been lodged by the activists with the DGP and the Hyderabad police commissioner and also a letter has been sent to Telangana Secretariat.

The agents promised the women that they will be provided jobs at the hospital and get a decent income but in reality they were made to work at the employer’s house and were being ill treated right from the day one

The women - Nazia Begum from Old Bowenpally, T Jyothi of Yousufguda and Sameena Begum from Shahgunj - paid Rs 1 lakh each to their respective agents Nasar, Sohail and Rahim of Mehdipatnam and were sent eight months ago to work at Sharaz Trading Company.

“The agents promised the women that they will be provided jobs at the hospital and get a decent income but in reality they were made to work at the employer’s house and were being ill treated right from the day one,” said Jaya.

All in their late twenties - Sameena has three children, Jyothi has a 10-year-old daughter and her husband is bedridden, while Nazia has two children.

Meanwhile, Hyderabad police commissioner M Mahendar Reddy asked the victims’ family members to file a complaint at their concerned police stations and said that they will probe the matter.
