3 hurt in pressure cooker blast in chanchalguda jail

At least three persons, two of them convicted prisoners, were injured when a pressure cooker went off inside the Chanchalguda jail in Hyderabad today.

Another injured is a jail warder, prison sources said. The incident took place when the prisoners were cooking food for lunch.

The injured were immediately given treatment and all of them are stated to be out-of-danger.

Chanchalguda jail has shot into prominence in the recent past with many VIP remand prisoners like some suspended IAS officers and former ministers are lodged there. It is not clear immediately whether the incident took place in the VIP barrack. Details are awaited.
