3 cops, 2 govt staff in ACB net for bribe


Three policemen were among five government officials who were trapped by Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in different parts of Andhra Pradesh for allegedly accepting bribes.

A sub-inspector of police K Nagendra and police constable K Suresh attached to Lingampet police station of Nizamabad district were caught red-handed by ACB officials on February 9 at the police station, when they demanded and accepted Rs 8000 as a bribe from a complainant for an official favour, an ACB release said here tonight. Both the sub-inspector and police constable were arrested by the ACB, after the bribe amount was recovered from them. In another case, ACB officials caught red-handed, the station house officer C Lachanna of Wankidi police station in Adilabad district today afternoon, when he demanded and accepted Rs 10,000 as a bribe for an official favour. In a separate case, Mohammed Yunus Ali, an assistant engineer at Panchayat Raj department in Miryalaguda in Nalgonda district was caught red-handed by ACB officials this afternoon at his office, when he accepted an amount of Rs 4000 as a bribe from a complainant. In yet another case, B Ravi, a village revenue officer in Kesarapalli village in Krishna district was trapped by ACB officials this evening when he demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs 30,000 from a complainant for an official favour, the ACB release said. All the cases are being investigated.
