3 Cong MPs set deadline on Telangana for Sonia

Three Telangana Congress MPs – Manda Jagannadham, Rajaiah and Vivek – on Sunday set a deadline for Congress party high command that they would resign if no decision was taken on Telangana statehood before May 30.

The MPs who met at the residence of Peddapalli MP Vivek, said Sonia Gandhi should make clear its stand on Telangana in the wake of remarks made by AICC spokesperson PC Chacko. Referring to his comment that the Telangana issue was not on the common agenda of the UPA and it was inappropriate to say that the UPA was violated promises on Telangana, Manda Jagannadham took strong exception over Chacko’s remarks. He demanded that Chacko should take back his comments. Will he deliberately make this remark? Or will he make after talking with Sonia and Rahul? Will he make this comment knowingly or unknowingly?   He should clarify who prompted him to make such comments and what is the real intention behind his remarks, Manda said.

The MP reminded that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi spoke on Telangana several times. He said: “We have faith that they would not have been advised Chacko to make such comments.” About 1000 youth had sacrificed their lives for the cause of Telangana, he said and added that Chacko should not make negative comments. He said the party would not survive in Telangana if it failed to fulfil its promise. Giving a hint that they would join TRS, the MPs said they would resign from the party and follow the people’s way.
