27-hour Ordeal For Social Media Activist For Criticising Nara Lokesh

Ravikiran Inturi - Sakshi Post

After a 27-hour-long ordeal, social media activist and administrator of the Facebook page Political Punch Ravikiran Inturi was released by the AP police on Saturday morning. He was picked up from his home in the wee hours of Friday.

Ravikiran's Facebook page lampooned TDP minister and Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu's son Nara Lokesh for his tongue slips and laugh-inducing comments. He was arrested on Friday morning and throughout the large part of the day, his whereabouts were unknown.

There was huge criticism of the Government action from the social media activists, political class and the opposition. Succumbing to the pressure, the government gave him a station bail and released him. He was dropped at his Hyderabad home on Saturday morning.

Ravikiran said he was operating alone and was not on the party's payroll. He said he was a great fan of late YSR and YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, but was in no way connected to the YSRCP IT wing. He was acting on his own volition, he said.

Interestingly, the TDP party website has slanderous comments and posts on YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and despite lodging a complaint, the police never acted. But, in this case, the police acted with alacrity and picked up Ravikiran.
