26-Year-Old Nurse Commits Suicide Due To Love Failure
Nellore: A 26-year-old staff nurse of the Government General Hospital (GGH) here today allegedly committed suicide by injecting herself with hazardous chemicals following love failure.
According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Mamatha, a native of Kesanapalli village in Narasaraopet mandal in Guntur district. Her father Yesuratnam had deserted her mother Marthamma a few years ago. Mamatha and her brother Koteswara Rao were raised by her mother. Despite all odds, Marthamma had managed to provide good education to her daughter.
After passing out as graduate in nursing, Mamatha had joined GGH in Nellore for a contract period of 11 months. She earlier used to live in guest house that belonged to the GGH. Later she shifted to a rented flat at Bank Colony near Current Office Centre along with her friends Durga Bhavani (staff nurse) and Padmasri (bank employee).
After office hours on Monday evening, Mamatha came to the flat and had dinner with her friends, as usual. After her friends went to bed, Mamatha spoke to her boyfriend Teja. It is learnt that she later took out a medical syringe and chemicals she had brought along with her, injected to herself body.
Within a few minutes, she collapsed on the bed. Around 4 am, her friend noticed her lying on the bed and alerted neighbours. By the time she was rushed to the hospital, it was late and doctors pronounced that she was brought dead. Following the information, her mother and brother too rushed to the hospital. Based on a complaint given by her mother, a case has been registered and investigation is on. Meanwhile, the police suspected that love affair might be the reason for Mamatha's suicide.
A few days ago, her mother called her up and told her that she has fixed her marriage. However, Mamatha argued with her mother saying she was not interested in marriage at that point of time.
