22-Year-Old Singer Shot Dead Near Delhi

Chandigarh: Harshita Dahiya (22), a Haryanvi singer was shot dead on Tuesday by unidentified assailants as she was on her way back to home in Delhi after her concert in Haryana's Panipat district. Around 4pm, the two miscreants in a black car, followed Harshita's carnear Chamrara village and overtook and blocked it.

Panipat DSP Desh Raj said, "The two assailants asked Harshita's driver and her two companions two step out of the car. They then fired seven rounds in her neck. After killing her they fled the scene." Recently, Harshita posted a video on social media that she was receiving death threats and that she is not afraid of anyone. She was popular for Haryanvi folk songs and was also a dancer.

A murder case has been registered and police suspect a gangster lodged in Tihar jail over the singer's murder.
