21 New Telangana Districts Born; KCR Unveils Siddipet District
Hyderabad: Telangana government on Tuesday unveiled 21 new districts carved out of the existing 10 districts in the state. The total number of districts in Telangana state is now 31.
Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao inaugurated Siddipet district at Siddipet by hoisting the national flag. He also inaugurated the district collectorate which is temporarily arranged in Ambedkar Bhavan. Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao and party leaders attended.
Speaking on the occasion, CM KCR said a new Telangana is born today and this is the biggest administrative reform in the history of Telangana. "This is done only to bring administration to the doorsteps of common man," he said.
He said Siddipet is a special district as his native place falls in it and he feels so proud to inaugurate it. "Tears of happiness welled in my eyes today," KCR said and announced a police commissionerate at Siddipet. A medical college will be set up here, he said and added that district level offices such as collectorate, zilla parishad, commissionerate and sessions court will be constructed on the four sides of the town making it a big city. He assured all help to Harish Rao in development of the district.
Telangana now has 31 districts with 21 new, 68 revenue divisions with 25 new and 584 mandals with 95 new.
