2017: The Big Five From Tollywood
As 2017 winds down, all one can say is that it has been a tidal wave of a year for Nani whose MCA has had a rocking opening.
MCA: Nani's made the most of 2017 with a rare, stunning hattrick. He followed up his Nenu Local and Ninnu Kori with crowning success of MCA towards the end of the year. In the bargain, he has now become the most sought-after actor in Tollywood.
Sai Pallavi also had a rocking 2017. She became an instant household name with her authentic Telangana accent-laden performance in Fidaa. Her second outing in Telugu, MCA has had a good run at the box office so far.
Hello: Akhil's second film after his debut has been receiving a thumbs up response from the critics and audiences. Sources say that the initial box office returns are beginning to thin, but the film continues to do fairly well by industry standards, especially if one looks at overseas earnings.
Tiger Zinda Hai: If there is one superstar who has the Midas touch, it is Salman Khan as revealed by the stunning success of Tiger Zinda Hai at the box office. This Christmas treat is proving to be a record grosser in Salman Khan's career, busting all previous highs.
Malli Raava: This comeback film of Sumanth went on to become a super hit, so much so that Telangana Chief Minister K.Chandra Sekhar Rao requested for a print of the film since he wanted to watch it. This itself was a big trigger behind the success of the film.
E Ee: This low budget film had a modest pre-Christmas opening and features Neiraj Sham and Naira Shah in the lead roles. To its luck, it ran into Akhil's Hello when it came to the release date. Else,it could have done better, some analyst say.
