2 get drowned in Godavari

Karimnagar: An engineer and a labourer got drowned in the river Godavari and died on Thursday, who were working near a construction site in Sarvaipet village.

K Shiva Kumar (23) an engineer employed with one Mega Engineering, and labourer, K Ravi (28) were working along with others at water grid scheme under Mahadevpur police limits, Kataram Circle Inspector G Sadan Kumar said.

While attending water grid works, Kumar and Ravi accidentally slipped into the river. Soon, other workers rushed to their rescue. A police team also reached the site and engaged swimmers to retrieve the bodies.

"The bodies are yet to be traced. We hope to fish out them by evening, the CI said.

Kumar hailed from West Godavari district in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh while the labourer Ravi belonged to Warangal, he added.
