14 year old boy as a poll officer in Hyderabad!
In a blatant violation of rules, a 14 year old boy, Mohammad Shaik Yousuf, was appointed as a poll officer in Chandrayangutta assembly constituency in Hyderabad.
After knowing about the same, Andhra Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwar Lal has ordered an enquiry on the appointment of all 1,405 booth level officers in Hyderabad Lok Sabha seat.
The incident, which was brought to the notice of the official by a complainant, caused a huge embarrassment to the election commission. The complainant also informed the commission that all the poll officers in the area belonged to one political party only.
Further, the website of the CEO also shows the picture of the boy and his designation as ‘Teacher’.
A senior official said that only salaried employees of the government can serve as booth level officers, but not those with political affiliations.
