12 toll plaza shut down, 53 provided exemptions
Devendra Fadnavis today announced the shutting down of 12 toll plazas. Private light motor vehicles and state transport corporation buses also being exempted at 53 other toll plaza of state, keeping up his cohorts promise to make Maharastra-a toll free state if bjp be given the power before the elections
The shutdown would be enforced right away. While the exemption of govt buses and LMV automobiles at the 53 tolls would be brought into force after May 31. Announcing the shutdown and exemptions Fadnavis said they would take a decision on levying of toll charges at five entry and exit points in Mumbai and on Mumbai-Pune Expressway after the high-level committee headed by Additional Chief Secretary (public works) submits its report on July 31. 11 among the 12 closing down toll plazas belong to MSRDC and one is being held by PWD. Among the 53 where govt buses and LMV vehicles are exempted, 26 are held by MSRDC and 27 by PWD. The party though had promised a toll-free Maharashtra, its now only striving toward partial exemptions.
