108 Services Impacted Due to BSNL - Sakshi Post

Hyderabad: Services of the 108 emergency services were severely affected on Sunday following issues with network cable wires provided exclusively to the services by Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL).

People calling the 108 number were getting a busy tone till late on Sunday. The 108 call center serving both Telanagana and Andhra Pradesh is located in Hyderabad and BSNL has provided six exclusively lines to the call center. This enables the call center handle calls 24 hours a day. However, cable lines located in Damera Pochampalli and Medchal are said to have been damaged affecting the services. However, there has been no previous incident of all the cable lines been affected, GVK EMRI chief operating officer Brahmananda Reddy said.
The 108 service has 752 ambulances in both the Telugu-speaking states and takes more than 2,800 emergency calls relating to highway accidents and also from rural areas.
