A 100-feet-tall national flag was unfurled at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy in Hyderabad on Monday.

Academy Director Aruna Bahuguna unfurled the tri-colour on a specially designed 100-feet-tall flag mast at a ceremonial parade.

The mast weighs 109 tonnes and stands at an altitude of 620.89 metres from the sea level. It is erected on Vallabh Sikhar, which is the highest point of the Academy.

The flag, which measures 20ftx30ft, will not be lowered in the evening and will be illuminated by flood lights.

On the occasion, 109 IPS probationers and 15 foreign police trainee officers from Bhutan, Nepal and the Maldives and families of the faculty members were present and saluted the tri-colour.

This is the second tallest national flag in Hyderabad. On June 2, India's biggest and tallest tri-colour was unfurled on the banks of Hussain Sagar Lake.

The flag at Sanjivaiah Park measures 72ftx108ft and flies on a 291-feet-tall mast.
