Man Murdered For Memory Card
Vizianagaram: In a shocking incident, a tribal man was killed by a person following a fight over a memory card.
The incident occurred in tribal hamlet Sangamguddivalasa near Aaguru of Mentada mandal here in the district. According to the police, victim was identified as Gammila Pottiah alias Uraf Raju (30).
Accused Chinnaiah arranged a soundbox to celebrate his son Balaraju's birthday on Sunday. When he searched for a memory card to switch on music, Chinnaiah could not find the card at his house. Subsequently, Chinnaiah assumed that Pottiah might have stolen his card. He immediately questioned Pottiah about the card.
This eventually led to an argument between of them. As the duo were in an inebriated condition, the quarrel led to fist fight. In the melee, Chinnaiah assaulted Pottiah. Knowing about the fight, Pottiah's brother-in-law Lakshman came to the scene and thrashed Chinnaiah. After a few minutes, Chinnaiah came with a knife and stabbed Pottiah on his right side of the chest. Death was instant for the victim.
The locals alerted the police over the murder. Following a complaint lodged by Pottiah's wife Ramanamma, a case has been registered against Chinnaiah. The victim's brother-in-law Lakshman was also taken into the custody. The body was shifted to Gajapathinagar government hospital for postmortem.
