Man Accidentally Shoots With Nail Gun, Drives All By Himself To Hospital

Ohio: A man, who has accidentally shot a nail into his heart while working, drove to a hospital all by himself in a small truck in Wisconsin.

Doug Bergeson was working on his house to construct a fire place when the incident had happened. "I was just bringing the nail gun forward and I was on my tip-toes. As there was no sufficient place in the room, I could not manage myself to hold the nail gun which fell on the ground firing at me," Bergeson said.

About a three and half inch of the nail plunged into his heart. As soon as the incident, Bergeson immediately drove himself to a hospital in his truck, parked it aside and barged into the emergency room. Bergeson noticed that the nail was moving along with his heart-beat.

The doctors there had done first aid and an X-ray had taken. Then they shifted him to Aurora Bay Care Medical Center for heart surgery. Bergeson texted his wife on bed to bring new shirt when the doctors aiding him.

The doctors at Aurora operated him and took the nail out. Everything was normal about Bergeson except a scar, which left on him after surgery.

Bergeson, who is back on his feet now, said that he didn’t remove the nail because he remembered 'Crocodile Hunter' Steve Irwin, who died in 2006 after a stingray stung him. Reports said that Irwin died due to heavy loss of blood as he pulled the fish out of his chest.
