Kapu YSRCP Leaders Kept Under House Arrest
Kirlampudi: Even as the Government tried every trick of the trade to suppress the Kapu community's Chalo Amaravati Pada Yatra, the angry Kapu community said the CM was turning East Godavari look like a battle zone in Kashmir valley.
The police behaved in a highhanded manner on several YSRCP leaders belonging to the Kapu community. Party senior leaders Jakkampudi Vijayalakshmi, Kandula Durgesh, Akula Veerraju, Girijala Babu and many other Kapu leaders were kept under house arrest.
Strongly condemening the arrest of the YSRCP leader, YSR Congress East Godavari unit President K Kanna Babu said that heavy deployment of police forces and clamping 144 and other sections in Kirlampudi and surrounding areas have made the district look like a battle zone.
He lambasted AP Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu for trying to suppress the Kapu movement using the police. The CM was trying to create an impression that Kapus are anti social elements in AndhraPradesh, he said.
He strongly objected to the house arrest of Kapu leaders and also YSR Congress workers who joined the Kapu movement demanding BC status to the community.
The YSR Congress leader also took strong exception to suspecting the sincerity of police officials belonging to Kapu community who are part of the forces deployed in Kirlampudi.
Kanna Babu said the CM should be ashamed of himself for his failure in fulfilling the promise made to Kapus during 2014 elections.
