Kadapa Steel Factory Is Rayalaseema’s Right: YSRCP

YSR Kadapa: The YSR Congress party intesified its protest in its demand for setting up of steel factory in the district, with MLA Rachamallu Shiva Prasada Reddy beginning his protest in Proddutur's Puttaparthi Circle on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, the MLA said that both the state and central governments had deceived the people of Rayalaseema and that the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders had compromised with the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) on the issue of Special Category Status (SCS) to Andhra Pradesh. The TDP leaders have now raised the issue of SCS and the steel factory, since they have nothing to show in the run up to the elections, he asserted. "Kadapa Steel Is Rayalaseema's Right," he sloganed.

The YSRCP leader kickstarted the protest with a huge rally, with more than 10,000 people marching along with him, from Bushetti Marriage Hall on Rameshwaram Road and headed towards Gandhi Road, TB Road and Rajiv Circle, before reaching Puttaparthi Circle. YSRCP MLAs Srikanth Reddy, Raghuram Reddy, MLC Govinda Reddy and YSRCP leader Amarnath Reddy participated in the rally. Local businessmen and students came in large numbers to express solidarity with the protesing MLAs.

Under the leadership of YSR Congress Party Chief and Leader of Opposition in Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, the party has been fighting relentlessly for achieving SCS to state, the leaders said.

"The 48-hour protest is just the beginning, we will take the fight to the grass-root levels and intensify the demand for steel factory. After four years of romance with the BJP, TDP is now raking up the SCS drama. In view of the upcoming elections, TDP leader CM Ramesh has declared a fast unto death for the steel factory," they said.
