Murder attempt on CM YS Jagan: Two Arrested

Vijayawada: In a major breakthrough, the Andhra Pradesh police have arrested two persons in connection with the attempt to murder case of chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. Vijayawada police arrested Satish and Durga Rao and produced them in the court. The police had earlier taken six persons into custody for questioning in the case.

As per reports, Satish carried out the attack on the chief minister while he was greeting the people during the ‘Memantha Siddham’ bus yatra at Dhaba Kotla centre in Ajit Singh Nagar on April 13, Saturday evening. 

CM Jagan sustained an injury on his left eyebrow after being hit by a stone in the Ajit Singh Nagar area. Doctors immediately provided first aid to him. YSRCP MLA Vellampalli, who was standing next to Jagan Mohan Reddy, sustained an injury in his left eye.

Satish has been identified as an accused number 1 (A1) while Durgua Rao was an accomplice in the case. The police are trying to ascertain if other people were also involved in the assassination attempt on the chief minister Jagan. 

Based on a complaint filed by MLA Velampalli, a case under the Indian Penal Code's Section 307 was registered at AS Nagar Police Station. According to the First Information Report (FIR), the attack took place near Vivekananda School around 8.30 pm.
