CM Jagan's Big Achievement: Tesla to Visit AP Soon

In what can be a significant achievement of CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's governance, the US-based electric vehicle giant Tesla is all set to visit AP soon as part of its entry to India. Tesla is mulling over to set up its manufacturing plant in India to drive the EV growth story. 

The Andhra Pradesh government under CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's leadership has extended an invitation to Tesla to set up a manufacturing plant in the state. The state has already sent two emails to Tesla's management inviting them to inspect potential sites for the plant. This proactive approach comes as Tesla founder Elon Musk is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 22nd.

"We asked Tesla to come see the sites where they could set up their facility in our state." explained a senior official to the media. "We're waiting to hear back from them. We have land available in every district, and we're willing to offer it for their plant wherever they choose."

The official went on to highlight the strategic advantages of the state, noting the proximity to manufacturing hubs in Chennai and Bengaluru as well as the nearby Krishnapatnam Port. Specific locations like the Kia plant in Anantapur district, Naidupet, and Sri City have all been proposed.

Crucially, the government has indicated it is willing to go the extra mile to secure this project. "If Tesla's team visits the state and picks a suitable location for their needs, the government is prepared to provide them with land, even if it involves buying it from private owners," the official added.

While the plant is expected to require over 2,500 acres of land, the official expressed confidence in the state's ability to accommodate Tesla's needs. However, they also noted that due to the ongoing Model Code of Conduct, any site visits or negotiations are likely to take place after the general elections.

This latest development marks a significant victory for CM Jagan who has been actively courting Tesla since 2021. His efforts stand in stark contrast to the previous TDP government which failed to secure the prestigious project. It is a bold maneuver that holds immense potential for innovation and economic growth.
