TDP Faces Rebellion Over Alliance Candidate for Srikakulam Seat- Sakshi Post

Srikakulam: The Telugu Desam Party cadre in Srikakulam constituency has issued an ultimatum to the zonal coordinator Srinivasulu Reddy. They are demanding the replacement of TDP-Jana Sena-BJP alliance candidate for Srikakulam constituency Gondu Shankar with former MLA Gunda Lakshmi Devi.

Nellore Srikakulam zonal coordinator Srinivasulu Reddy visited the residence of Gunda Lakshmi Devi at Arasavalli and held a meeting with her and the party cadre. During the meeting, he conveyed the message that TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu had asked him to bring the Gunda couple (Lakshmi Devi and her husband) to discuss the matter.

However, the Gunda couple responded that they would only talk to Naidu and not to the TDP national secretary Nara Lokesh. Srinivasulu assured the party leaders that arrangements would be made within the next two to three days for the Gunda couple to meet party chief.

Meanwhile, TDP leaders in Srikakulam demanded that the assembly ticket for the Srikakulam seat should be allotted to Lakshmi Devi. They argued that out of the 50 divisions in the city, the in-charges of 45 divisions are supporters of the former legislator.

The leaders, activists, and people of the constituency expressed anguish over the allotment of the ticket to Shankar. They urged Srinivasulu Reddy to convey their sentiments to Chandrababu Naidu and request him to ensure that Lakshmi Devi receives the ticket.
