Polavaram Project: No Funds From Centre, AP Utilised Own Funds

Former Minister and YSRCP leader Kurasala Kannababu gave a befitting counter to the leaders of the alliance. Kannababu stated that the AP government-led by CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has utilised its own funds for the Polavaram Irrigation Project as the Centre gave a raw deal for the state.

"PM Modi, in his speech, accused Jagan Mohan Reddy of neglecting the Polavaram Project. It was delayed due to Chandrababu Naidu’s greed. He ignored the engineers' advice and proceeded with building the coffer dam. Without proper design, the coffer dam washed away. Are these not the facts?," asked Kannababu.

"The state government utilized its own funds, which the Centre did not reimburse on time. Is this not a fact? The Centre failed to provide the R&R share, another undeniable fact. New designs were submitted to the Centre to rebuild the coffer dam, and numerous meetings were held with them. The matter was brought to the attention of the Ministry of Jal Shakti and the Prime Minister," he added.

When the Minister for Jal Shakti, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, and the Chief Minister inspected the Polavaram site, the minister assured a report and the designs would be provided. "So why the delay in the Polavaram Project? It was Prime Minister Modi who asserted during the 2019 elections that Chandrababu Naidu treated the Polavaram project as an ATM. This indicates that Chandrababu Naidu engaged in corrupt practices under the guise of the Polavaram Project," said Kannababu.

"PM Modi condemned Chandrababu Naidu for his corrupt practices then, and today he is shifting blame onto CM Jagan for neglecting the Polavaram Project and alleging prevalent corruption in the state, which is surprising," said Kurasala Kannababu.
