National flag issue: Complaint to EC against Pawan Kalyan

Kakinada: A complaint has been filed with the Election Commission against the Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan over the use of the national flag during a nomination rally in Pithapuram on Tuesday. The Jana Sena leader came to the Returning Officer with a rally of supporters. He was seen standing through the sunroof of the car holding a national flag in one hand and a party flag in the other. 

Pawan Kalyan took out a nomination rally from Chebrolu to Pithapuram and submitted his nomination papers as an MLA candidate from the Pithapuram constituency to the Returning Officer in Kakinada. The complainant, Journalist Nagarjuna Reddy, raised an objection over the use of the national flag during the nomination rally and requested the Election Commission to take action against the party leader. 

During the nomination process, members of the opposition alliance violated the 100-meter rule at the Returning Officer’s office. Some of the activists were even seen barging the office. 

As per the election affidavit declarations, Pawan Kalyan owns movable and immovable assets worth Rs 114.76  crore while the liabilities stand at Rs 64.26 crore.
