Jagan Wave: Can Balakrishna Win in Hindupur This Time?

 - Sakshi Post

Anantapur: Chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s election campaign witnessed a tsunami of supporters in Hindupur on Saturday. Addressing a massive public meeting at the Ambedkar Centre, CM Jagan slammed the TDP chief Chrandrababu Naidu for not fulfilling the promises he made to the people in the previous elections and once again making an attempt to deceive the people with his poll manifesto.

Hindupur constituency is considered a TDP bastion. However, today’s crowd of supporters indicate that the ruling YSRCP has breached the walls of the opposition fortress. The large turnout of people to listen to the chief minister is expected to send a strong message to the opposition TDP that the ruling party’s candidate Koduri Deepika is set to wrest the seat from the Tollywood actor and sitting MLA Nandamuri in the May 13 polls.

Hindupur constituency has been a stronghold of TDP for over 30 years, however, it is still under-developed. One of the reasons for its under-development is the elected MLA Balakrishna rarely visits his own constituency. He’s a busy actor who is focussed more on his movies than the public issues.

Balakrishna was first elected to the Andhra Pradesh assembly in 2014. He’s completed 10 years as an elected public representative but has a poor track record of performance in his constituency. During the last 10 years in public office, he’s worked in 12 movies. He’s also busy with TV and OTT shows. It is anybody’s guess how much time he’s given to the constituents of Hindupur segment.
