According to the CM's schedule, the chief minister left his Tadepalli residence on Wednesday morning and reached Kakinada. He addressed a large public meeting at Rangaraya Medical College grounds where he distributed the increased pension amount to the beneficiaries. The crowd attended in large numbers showing their support to the ruling party.

Under the YSR Pension Kanuka programme, over 66 lakh social pension beneficiaries in the state will receive an enhanced pension amount of Rs 3,000 from January 01, 2024, onwards. The present state government spending on the enhanced pension scheme is approximately 1,968 crore per year, almost five times more than the expenditure on social benefits allocated by the previous government.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), YSRCP wrote, "Hey, @JaiTDP, aren't you proud of CM @ysjagan and the @YSRCParty Government for making #AndhraPradesh the only state in the country to provide a monthly pension of Rs 3,000 to around 66.34 lakh people? Hope you are not against this landmark move which provides social security not just to our elderly but also widows. It's high time you acknowledge that unlike you @YSRCParty walks the talk. No room for false narratives or misleading stories. What's happening on the ground is genuine, inclusive people's governance, which is an unstoppable force."
