Documentary On Gemini Ganesan To Counter Mahanati

The South Indian film industry is on a spree of Biopic films currently. The latest trend was set by Mahanati, a biopic of yesteryear actress Savitri. Meanwhile, a new biopic is scaled to be launched as a counter to the Savitri biopic. Dr. Kamala, daughter of Gemini Ganesan, claimed that her father's role was wrongly portrayed in the film. "The biopic portrayed my father as a drunkard, which is not true," she said.

"A documentary on Gemini Ganesan will be made very soon. The biopic showcased only one side of the coin, which is the reason why Gemini Ganesan's other side will be shown in the documentary. With a duration of 100 minutes, the documentary will be screened specially for media representatives in Chennai and Hyderabad," Dr. Kamala said in a interview with Anupama Subramanyam in the wake of the Mahanati controversy.

Mahanati director Nag Ashwin showcased the ups and downs of Savitri's life. Apart from Keerthy Suresh, Mahanati also stars Dulquer Salman, Samantha, Rajendra Prasad and Mohan Babu in lead roles.
