Missing Adilabad Infant Kidnapped By Barren Couple  Traced

A six-day-old infant abducted from the maternity ward of Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences in Adilabad was traced within five hours by the police.

The baby who was born to Dirbasi Mamatha of Chorpalli village in Narnoor mandal on July 4 was stolen in the wee hours of Tuesday. Minutes after the baby went missing, a complaint was lodged by the relatives of Mamatha. The police then launched a manhunt and alerted all the police officials in the district. When the check was underway, a vehicle carrying newspapers was interrupted by the police in which they noticed a woman hiding an infant.

They soon took pictures of the new-born and  sent to the parents for identification. After confirming the baby was indeed Mamatha's son, police arrested the woman Pushpalatha and her husband Nagesh.

In the preliminary investigation, the couple confessed to have committed the crime and said they took the extreme step as the woman's efforts to bear a child for the last ten years had failed.

In a similar report, a new born had been kidnapped from the Koti Government hospital and traced in Bidar by the police within 48 hours of the crime.
