Man Gets 10 Years RI For Raping Minor Girl

Hyderabad: A court here today sentenced a 52-year-old man to 10 years rigorous imprisonment for raping a minor girl two years ago. The First Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Court convicted M Ashirwadam, a painter, of raping the 15-year-old girl. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 2,000 on him, a police release said.

According to prosecution, Ashirwadam had taken photographs of the girl bathing and raped her after threatening that he would make the pictures public. On a complaint from the girl's mother, cases were registered against him under the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. (PTI)
