'Chandrababu trying to tighten his grip on Hyderabad'

Senior Congress leader Jeevan Reddy said that maintaining law and order in the city of Hyderabad is the responsibility of Telangana government as per A.P.Reorganisation Act-2014.

Speaking to reporters in Hyderabad on Monday, Jeevan Reddy said it is not proper to amend the act to bring the police under the purview of governor.”

It may be recalled that centre is planning to bring a bill to provide special powers to the governor in the common capital. “Such a bill is undemocratic and is against the federal structure of the country,” commented the former minister.

“Chandrababu has been trying to rule Hyderabad with the help of governor once the bill is passed,” said Jeevan Reddy.

He said that Chandrababu has to take the responsibility for the consequences of handing over the maintenance of law and order to the governor.

“Congress Party was defeated in Telangana in the recent elections as it failed to project a leader who could match up to K.Chandrasekhar Rao,” said Jeevan Reddy.

He said that his party  would review the election results and take steps to strengthen the party's organisation.
