Hyderabad: Telangana Education Minister Kadiyam Srihari asked the contract lecturers to resume work from Thursday. He called upon them to stop their boycott of duties. The contract lecturers have been boycotting duties for the past 10 days demanding enhanced wages.

The minister said the striking lecturers would lose the chances of getting regularised. However, unrelenting lecturers said they would intensify their strike. The State Cabinet gave its nod for regularizing services of contract employees, but the process came to an unexpected halt as the students of Osmania University have approached the court.

The deadlock between the state government and contract lecturers is over the issue of revision of wages.

At present, government has enhanced wages of contract lecturers by 50 per cent based on GO No 14. The minister said that they have taken enough measures for the welfare of contract lecturers and felt that the agitation is politically motivated.
